Maatigatha - Craft Research Documentation

Maatigatha is a craft research-based document that provides a deep exploration into the world of the renowned Terracotta craft. A team of 5th-semester students from the Fashion Communication department at NIFT Bbsr—Surbhi Patel, Dishita Jain, Soumya Shree, Subham Raj, Samujjal Dutta, S. Meenakshi & Mousam Bhardwaj—embarked on a week-long journey to the small village of Barpali in the Bargarh district of Odisha.
During this time, the team actively engaged with local artisans, immersed themselves in the craft processes, and took the initiative to develop new ideas and strategies aimed at enhancing the marketing and branding practices followed by the artisans. The primary goal was to shed light on the rich cultural heritage and the fading history of this craft. The team's mission extended to reintroducing the craft into the modern world and ensuring its continued existence amidst the ever-changing tides of time.
